Techie found dead in Pune; probe underway

In a suspected case of suicide, a software engineer was found dead at her house at Bavdhan in Pune, the city police said.

The 24-year-old woman was found dead at her rented house by her acquaintances on Saturday morning around 11 am. The police, who suspect the victim died by suicide, have launched a probe into the sequence of events leading to her death.

The deceased has been identified as Sayali Batte, who hailed from Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra and was  the daughter of Vasudev and Varsha Batte — both members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Sayali moved to Pune over a year ago for her job with an IT company. Her brother was staying with her but recently returned to their hometown.

“Preliminary probe points to suicide. We have not found any suicide note till now. A probe has been launched into the sequence of events leading to her death.” said Inspector Vivek Muglikar, in-charge of Hinjewadi police station.

A case of sudden death has been registered at Hinjewadi police station. After the incident came to light, her family members were informed and they rushed to Pune.
