(File Photo)IN A suspected case of suicide, a 24-year-old Information Technolgy (IT) engineer working for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was found dead in a washroom on company premises in Phase 3 of Hinjewadi IT Park in the early hours of Tuesday, the Pimpri Chinchwad police said.
The Police said that their initial probe points to betting losses being the reason behind the techie taking the extreme step.
Pimpri Chinchwad police have identified the deceased as Sujal Vinod Oswal (24), a resident of Wanawadi. Officials said that Oswal was found dead in the washroom around 12.30 am on Tuesday. “The incident came to light during a routine round of the premises by security personnel. The security guard informed the company authorities who informed the police immediately.” said an officer from the Hinjewadi police station.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad said, “The deceased, Sujal Vinod Oswal, was 24 and worked as an IT engineer for the TCS. Some time between 12.30 and 12.45 am, he was found dead in a washroom on the company premises, initial probe points to this being a case of suicide. investigation suggests that he had incurred losses in betting. Before he took the extreme step, he sent a message to his family members. Further investigation is ongoing and a sequence of events is being established.”

Officials said that an autopsy was performed and a preliminary report of the incident was being prepared. “We will speak to the kin, colleagues and company authorities as part of the investigation.” the officer from Hinjewadi police station said.
The Indian Express contacted TCS about the incident for a comment but recieved no response thus far.
