Teacher held for raping 12-year-old

Seema Dhakne,police sub-inspector with the Khed police station and the investigating officer in the case,said: “We suspected he would try to hide at someone’s place who he knows well. We conducted searches at his relatives’ and friends’ houses. One of our teams also went to Kalyan for the same. ”

Burase was charged under the Indian Penal Code Sections 376 for rape and 354 for assaulting the girl with the intention of outraging her modesty. Burase was produced in court on Thursday and was remanded in police custody for three days.

On December 9,Burase took the victim and one of her friends,both studying in Class VII,to the principal’s cabin when there was no one inside. He then made the other girl stand outside the cabin and allegedly raped the victim.

Burase allegedly threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone about the incident.

The crime came to light when the girl’s classmates informed her parents.
