The actress returns to television after a hiatus of five years

Yeh Meri Life Hai ended in 2005. What have you been up to since then?
I have lost count of the number of show offers that I have refused during these years. People were so shocked because I was at a stage in my career where so many offers came in and I could demand any amount of money. But I didn’t want to be part of any show that didn’t excite me. I did one dance reality show because I love to dance but I refused to be part of any mundane daily soap. When the offer of Seven came,I jumped at it.

What is it about Seven that made you accept a role in it?
The concept is just out of the world. It’s about seven ordinary people with extraordinary powers. They have been given these powers to make the world a better place. I play Shunya and it’s my task to look out for these seven people and help them. My character,Shunya has the power of numbers, she can break any code. She can also fly and teleport herself.

How easy was it to perform all those stunts and special effects?
I have a lot of fight scenes. That was fun because I have been taking kickboxing classes for the past 10 years and have kept myself physically very fit. I love action; it gives me a lot of energy. As far as the special effects go,it was actually quite funny. You’re fighting with people you can’t see and doing actions that you have no idea about. The first few days were really uncomfortable but then we started to enjoy it.

The show is produced by YRF TV,which is a new entrant in the television world. How was the experience of working with them?
It’s every actor’s dream to be associated with this banner in some manner. And to think they called me and asked me to be part of the show,it was just a dream come true. The best part of working with them is that they shoot the show like a movie and not like serials where they shoot 15 scenes a day. We only shot around two or three scenes a day.

If you could have one superpower in real life, what would it be?
Teleportation, for sure. There’s so much traffic in Mumbai that I waste a lot of time getting from one place to another. In the show,Shunya can fly and teleport herself and I’m so jealous of that.

What next?
I have signed two films and will start shooting for them in April this year. Right now,I’m so busy with this show that I don’t have time for anything else.
