After theatre, films and ads,the actor is keen to explore the reality show genre Axe your Ex seems like an interesting concept. What is the show all about? Its about different people coming up to Channel V and me to help them get back at their exes. It is a show about revenge, about love gone wrong and about confrontation. What kind of a role do you play on the show?I play the role of a sutradhar. There are total of four pranks which the contestants play on their exes. The elaborateness of the pranks keeps increasing. Since I am the VJ,I also have a lot of pre-work. I need to research the background of the participant and his/her ex and then help them with pranks accordingly. What is the best prank you have played so far? There was this guy in one of our episodes who was the ex of one of the contestants. We offered him a free massage at a massage parlour. A beautiful girl was appointed for the purpose. The girl started flirting with him initially and then blindfolded him and left the room. Her place was taken by a man with soft hands. As he continued to massage, this man continued to flirt with him, thinking it was the girl. It was hilarious. How would you take revenge on your ex?I have already taken revenge on my ex in my own little way. I did not have access to a channel like Channel V then. When most people encourage people to move on,why would Axe Your Ex do otherwise? We are not endorsing the fact that people should get back with their exes. But all we want to do is help them confront and then move on. It is all about forgive and forget. Are you big on reality shows?I am not big on TV but I believe it is the strongest medium today and the quickest way to connect with the audience. So were you a bit apprehensive about working on a reality show?I would say I felt challenged. I did not have a character to support me. It was just me which people had to relate to. The youth are very impressionable these days and I thought this is the best way to connect with them. I was just worried if it would go into the voyeuristic zone, but Channel V is all about fun and frolic. VJ-ing is a more spontaneous job as compared to acting in films. Did your background in theatre help you in anyway here? For sure. Theatre always helps, because there we do a lot of impromptu stuff. Theatre makes you more attentive and alert. But currently,I have not been able to do any theatre because of my busy schedule. I will be in Delhi for a month to shoot for Axe Your Ex after which I will do more plays. What films are you working on currently?I have just completed shoot for Lafangey Parindey directed by Pradeep Sarkar. It was a very challenging role. I am also waiting for the release of Phillum City,a UTV project directed by Deven Khote. You are also making a name in the ad world with Vodafone,Close Up and other commercials. Does it help you explore your talent better? It helps me pay my monthly bills.
