Even as doctors began the treatment of the software engineer who has been detected with H1N1 virus at Naidu Hospital, health authorities have quarantined two more persons who had accompanied him in his journeys. The two,who also had swine flu like symptoms, have been admitted to the quarantine ward. Their throat swabs will be sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) for tests.
Dr D W Barathe, superintendent of Naidu Hospital, said the two are also from Pune and had accompanied the swine flu victim to Delhi and back.
The NIV,meanwhile,is checking at least 15-20 samples daily. It has seven laboratories, which can conduct the tests to detect the virus. Only NIV and NICD,New Delhi, are conducting tests for the virus now,sid Dr M S Chadda, deputy director,NIV.
