Supriya Sule urges for 5,000 new PMPML buses to maximise Metro’s last-mile connectivity

Taking up the lack of efficient public transport with no last mile connectivity for Metro commuters, NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule on Monday said there was a need for 5,000 buses and a proper parking facility.

“A review meeting of Pune Metro officials was held. Last mile connectivity is a must for Metro rail commuters in order to maximise the service’s use,” Sule said after the meeting.

She added there was a need for 5,000 new PMPML buses in order to provide last mile connectivity for commuters to use the Metro.

“If the government can spend huge amounts on Metro rail service then it can easily buy 5,000 buses for PMPML. It is important to ensure maximum people use the Metro rail service.”

She added that parking at Metro stations was a must for commuters to park their private vehicles. Sule said, “The union and state government should come up with a comprehensive policy to provide last-mile connectivity to commuters.”

Sule also raised the issue of water shortage in the PMC area under Baramati Lok Sabha constituency. “The contaminated water in Khadakwasla dam has led to the spread of disease in some areas of the city. There has to be a common plan of the PMC and PMRDA in tackling the situation. I will take up the same with the union and state governments for a solution,” she said.
