St Vincents High School reached the semi finals from Group B in all the age groups at the invitational Loyola Football Cup 2013. The tournament is being jointly organised by Loyola High School and Ex Loyola Alumni (ELAN). SSPMS (B) reached the semifinals in the U12 and U16 categories,while Vidya Bhavan High School reached the semifinals in the U14 category in the tournament which is being played at the football ground of the Loyola High School.
In the under-12 category,St Vincents School played out a drab goalless draw against SSPMS (Boarding) while in group A,Abhinav Vidyalay hammered SSPMS (Day) 3-0. Amod Joshi scored a brace,slotting in goals in the second and the 18th minute. Shaunak Dandekar also recorded a goal,firing in a low drive in the 12th minute.
In the under-14 category,St Vincents School scored a narrow 1-0 victory over SSPMS (Boarding). Virendra Pardeshis 14th minute strike sealed the issue for his side. St Vincents victory sealed their progression to the semi-finals from the under-14 group. In the other match in the same category,SSPMS (Day) scraped past a spirited Police Public School side with a tight 1-0 scoreline. Chetan Jadhavs seventh minute goal was the difference between the two sides.
St Vincents School played out a 1-1 draw against SSPMS (Boarding) in the under-16 category. Faizan Kuwaire opened the scoring for St Vincents School as he scored off a perfectly squared pass in the 17th minute. SSPMS (Boarding) then made repeated forays into the St Vincents half in search of an equalizer. The goal finally arrived in the 38th minute when Aditya Naikwadi dribbled past a couple of defenders before slotting the ball home past the St Vincents custodian to level matters and ensure that his side walked off with a share of the spoils. Abhinav Vidyalay played a scoreless draw against SSPMS (Day) in the same category.
JN Petit Technical High School will now take on SSPMS (Boarding) in the first semi-final of the under-12 category while hosts Loyola High School will face St Vincents School in the other semi-final. In the under-14 category,JN Petit Technical High School will battle St Vincents School. Hosts Loyola High School will face St Vincents High School in the first semi-final of the under-16 category.
