While there was confusion among students about whether or not writing pad will be allowed for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination beginning Thursday,Vijaysheela Sardesai,chairperson of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) said that students are allowed to carry writing pads. However,they will be thoroughly checked for any copy material and action will be taken if found any, she said.

The confusion was primarily in the Mumbai division and students and parents from Pune too were inquiring about the same.

There are about 16,03,144 students appearing from 19,287 schools in Pune,Nagpur,Aurangabad,Mumbai,Kolhapur,Amravati,Nasik and Latur divisions. Of these,about 2.5 lakh students will be appearing for the examinations at 446 centres from Pune division i.e. from Pune,Ahmednagar and Solapur districts. There are a total of 3693 examination centres in the state that will be monitored by 245 flying squads,seven for each district.

This is for the first time that English medium students are allowed to take Marathi second language along with English first language and Marathi medium students are allowed to take English first language along with Marathi first language. Therefore,examination for English as first,second or third language has been scheduled in the same session on the same day,said a press release issued by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

The note also mentions that students with learning disabilities like dyslexia,dyscalculia and dysgraphia,visually and physically challenged students and students with cerebral palsy are expected to use only one writer. However,respective division heads have the right to relax this rule in case of exceptions.

The State Board has requested to call on following numbers in case of doubts regarding the timetable,hall tickets,subjects,procedure in case of accident and other emergencies.
