There was some panic among law students of the 2015 batch who were expecting to sit for their first examination on Tuesday, November 22. However, they were unable to do so because they had still not received the hall ticket. Authorities at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) said on Wednesday that a separate round of exams will be held for students of the 2015 batch who have a few pending papers.
There was some panic among law students of the 2015 batch who were expecting to sit for their first examination on Tuesday, November 22. However, they were unable to do so because they had still not received the hall ticket.
“When we received the last official communication, we were informed that we will get two chances to sit for the examination. However, the notice did not state for certain whether it would be a separate round of examination or a regular one,” said one of the law students.
“I came from Mumbai because I thought the exams began and the hall ticket might come at the last moment. However, it did not and I was unable to sit for the exam. It is okay if the examinations are held later, we just want to be informed about it clearly,” he added.
Pro Vice-Chancellor of SPPU Parag Kalkar said, “We are still processing the exam forms of the backlog students. We do not want to cause any academic loss to the students and give them enough time for preparation. The regular student exam forms had been completed and processed much earlier. A separate schedule for backlog students will be announced soon.”
“Two opportunities for examinations will be declared for these students, as per our circular. The course has changed twice for these students, so we have to clarify the matter as well,” said Kalkar.
A circular released last month allowed students of the 2015 batch two opportunities to complete their pending papers. This came after The Indian Express reported several students being unable to complete their examination form process due to a sudden change in university policy over time-limit for completing degrees.
While the university stated that students would get two opportunities to sit for examinations to complete their degree, an exam schedule was not given. Due to this, many students assumed that they will have to sit along with the regular students for the exams which began on Tuesday (for law students).
