SPPU reschedules June 29 exams owning to Bakrid, Ashadhi Ekadashi

The university has directed the affiliated colleges to hold the affected examinations on July 9.

The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on Tuesday rescheduled the examinations at its affiliated colleges that were slated to be held on June 29. The SPPU’s Board of Examinations and Evaluation said the decision was taken since both Bakrid and Ashadi Ekadashi are falling on June 29.

The university has directed the affiliated colleges to hold the affected examinations on July 9. A circular issued by the Board of Examination and Evaluations read, “After receiving requests from some of the affiliated colleges that festivals of Bakrid and Ashadhi Ekadashi are to be celebrated on June 29, the board has decided to postpone all the examinations at the affiliated colleges in Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik districts. These should be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023, as per the timetables of the rest of the examination.”

Examinations for the final semesters of diploma, degree and master’s courses of the academic year 2022-23 commenced at various affiliated colleges of the SPPU on June 6. The exams are being held in the offline mode.

Meanwhile, SPPU’s convocation ceremony will be held on July 1. Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of Universities Ramesh Bais will be the chief guest. At least 1,21,281 students have applied to get the certificates of completion of various courses. At the event, students who have won gold medals and selected PhD holders will be handed out degrees while others will be sent the certificates through post.
