Jaiswar wins Chess title

Shailesh Jaiswar has won the BD Lele Memorial Central Maharashtra Open rapid chess tournament conducted by the Buddhibal Kreeda Trust. Jaiswar scored 7.5 points to finish above Chinmay Kulkarni,who scored 7. Behind them were GM Wagh,Janak Awatramani,Atharva Mulay,Abhiskeh Kelkar and Pratik Mulay,who each scored 6.5,and were separated by their Buccholz scores. Prakash Karmakar,with 5 points,won the over-60 age group competition,finishing ahead of CN Bhadbhade,who scored 4. The award for the best woman player went to Snehal Mahajan,who scored 5 points to finish ahead of Aakanksha Hagawane. Harshit Raja took the under-20 prize,bettering Atharva Godbole by half a point. Nikhil Dixit’s 6 points,meanwhile,were enough to see him through to the under-16 trophy,ahead of Mohit Shenvi. Gaurav Hagawane bagged the under-14 prize with 5.5 points,with Sanjay Kolgane coming a close second on 5. Aryan Shah won the under-12 trophy,ahead of Rajat Mahajan and Atharva Madkar. Aditya Madkar was the star of the under-10 category,in which he pipped Sushrut Waghmare to the title on the basis of his Buccholz score,with Dhruv Joshi finishing third. Avanish Shilimkar,with 4.5 points,took the under-8 crown,with Aditya Deshpande and Harshvardhan Bhoite following him closely.
