Asia-Pacific rally: Takale-Sharif win
Sanjay Takale of Pune and his navigator Musa Sharif of Delhi became the first Indians to win the Class A6 title in the fourth leg of the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship in Whangarei,New Zealand on Sunday. They also became the first Indians ever to win at any level in the APRC circuit.Takales victory came after both the cars of Team MRF crashed out. The first one driven by Gaurav Gill and his New Zealand navigator Glenn McNeel met with an accident in stage 12. The othercar driven by Katsu Taguchi went off the road in the Stage 14. This was Takale and Sharifs first appearance at this level.
State shines at national darts championship
Maharashtra players bagged a host of titles at the recently concluded national darts championship in Hyderabad. The state team comprising Ashfaque Sayed,Amrish Negi,Somesh Thapa,Vijaya Tecksingani,Ayesha Sayed,Anil Agate,Rashmi Negi and Nausheen Sayed won the group event,beating Andhra Pradesh to the crown.
The mother-daughter duo of Ayesha Sayed and Nausheen Sayed clinched the women’s doubles title,while Vijaya Tecksingani was runner-up in the women’s singles event.
A 14-member Indian team was chosen to travel to Ireland in September to participate in the World Cup.
PDFA starts registration for womens teams
The Poona District Football Association (PDFA) has started registrations for women’s football clubs. Interested clubs can sign up from July 28-August 8. Forms are available on the PDFA website and at the PDFA office. Teams that register will be eligible to participate in the league and other tournaments conducted by the association,said a press release.
