Saurav Sukul of Kolkata won the twin titles at the DES Fergusson Cup All-India Ranking Mens Tennis Tournament,which concluded at the Fergusson College courts on Saturday.
In a singles final that lasted for an hour and 45 minutes,second- seed Sukul defeated Maharashtras Shahbaaz Khan 6-3,6-3. Sukul,employed by Eastern Railways,broke Shahbaaz in the 6th and 8th games of the first set,and again in the first and fifth games of the second to complete an assured victory. Sukul received Rs 26,000 and 35 AITA points,while runner-up Shahabaaz received Rs18,000 and 25 AITA points. Earlier,Sukul partnered Nitin Kirtane to win the doubles crown,beating Anvit Bendre and Tushar Mandlekar 6-2,6-3 in the final. Sukul and Kirtane received Rs. 12,600 and 30 AITA points,while runners-up Bendre and Mandlekar received Rs 6,600 and 25 AITA points.
Pol makes merry at Sungard
Prashant Pols unbeaten knock of 77 helped Sungard clinch a seven-wicket win over Symantec in the league phase of the Ubhe Sports Inter-IT Twenty20 tournament at Shinde High School,Sahakar Nagar.
After restricting Symantec to 112 for eight,Sungard took only 15.2 overs to get to their target,with Pol scoring his 77 in just 44 balls,with five fours and six sixes.
In another match,Wipro defeated Cybage by seven wickets,with S Surabh (41) and Fayaz Shaikh (39 not out) guiding them to their target of 117 with 4.2 overs to spare.

Kondhavale shines in defeat
Vijay Kondhavales five-wicket haul went in vain as Sant Tukaram lost by 31 runs to Prashant Vahile in the PDCA Inter-Taluka Twenty20 tournament at Nehru Stadium on Saturday. Thanks to Kondhavales spell of five for 21,Sant Tukaram reduced their opponents to 129 for nine,but failed to chase down their modest target,with Dipak Sonawane and Shailesh Vahile scalping three wickets each.
Meanwhile,at Law College,half centuries from Sachin Shinde and Abhijit Ekshinge laid the platform for Baramati CAs 59-run win over KACF Baramati.
