Pushkaraj Chavan’s twelve wickets (six in each innings) went in vain as Raigad lost a cliffhanger against President’s XI by one wicket in the MCA Senior Invitation Super League tournament at Malvan. The three-day match,which concluded on Saturday,saw low scores in all four innings,with neither team crossing 200 once.

Batting first,Raigad were bowled out for 129,with Yogesh Chavan picking up six for 42. President’s XI took a small,but critical lead of 33,with Karan Nande defying Pushkaraj and co. by scoring 51,the only half century of the match. Raigad scored 149 in their second innings,leaving President’s XI 117 to win. They managed it despite another six-wicket haul from Pushkaraj,getting to their target in 35.4 overs,with the last pair at the crease.

In another match at PYC Hindu Gymkhana,United dominated against Sangli but only managed a draw. With Shirish Kamte scoring a century and Azhar Shaikh missing out by just two runs,United posted 338 before bowling Sangli out for 262. In their second innings,United piled on the runs,with four batsmen crossing 50,with Parag More getting to 120.

Raigad 129 in 41.5 overs (Gaurav Ghadge 28,Aditya Darge 25,Yogesh Chavan six for 42) and 149 in 39.4 overs (Bharat Solanki 27,Vishal Gite three for 40,Valmik Rokde three for 23) lost to President’s XI 162 in 38.3 overs (Prem Ahire 28,Karan Nande 51,Pushkaraj Chavan six for 56) and 117 for nine in 35.4 Overs (Pushkaraj Chavan six for 27,Bharat Solanki three for 57) by one wicket.

United 338 in 98.1 overs (Shirish Kamte 117,Azhar Shaikh 98,Anant Tambvekar five for 35,Somesh Gaste three for 67) and 433 for nine declared in 73 overs (Shirish Kamte 53,Sandesh Pawaskar 77,Parag More 120,Amit Singh 74 not out,Shivam Gaste three for 58,Vijay Wavre two for 76) drew with Sangli 262 in 58.4 overs (Avdhoot Vibhute 27,Shivam Gaste 48,Amol Nilagude 45 not out,Mithun Kirad five for 109,Sagar Udeshi four for 81).

Gandre stars for Cypress

Harshal Gandre’s unbeaten 66 set up a comfortable 33-run win for Cypress over Yes Bank in the quarterfinals of the ABIL Corporate cricket tournament at Deccan Gymkhana on Saturday. Batting first,Cypress made 148 for four in their 20 overs with Gandre’s 50-ball knock (3×4,4×6) complemented by a 35-ball 48 from Jagdish Varde (6×4,1×6). In reply,Yes Bank were bowled out with nearly two overs still to go,with only Amol Bhore (48) managing a sizeable vigil at the crease.

In another match,Jain Irrigation posted a 70-run win over Mather & Platt,with Vishal More declared man of the match for his innings of 43.

Cypress 148 for four in 20 overs (Harshal Gandre 66 not out,Jagdish Varde 48) bt Yes Bank 115 in 18.1 overs (Amol Bhore 44,Rocky Rajavat 25,Zahir Shaikh three for eight).

Wagholi tops league table

Wagoli Fighters topped the league phase of the Pune District Premier League,with eight points from five matches,which saw them win four and lose one. Wagholi is joined in the semifinals by Pimpri Panthers,Parvati Peshwas and Camp Warriors,all of whom finished on six points.

The final round of league fixtures saw Pimpri confirm their place in the last four thanks to an all-round display by Amit Tapkir,who took four wickets and top-scored with 37 to lead Pimpri to a four-wicket win over Ambegaon Tigers.
