Around 80 autorickshaw drivers will be selected through a Lucky Draw.

The Suryadatta Group of Institutes will be conducting free English speaking classes and computer learning programmes for autorickshaw drivers.

Around 80 autorickshaw drivers will be selected through a Lucky Draw.

The autorickshaw drivers will be divided in a group of 40 each and the classes will be conducted as per the schedule of batches which includes computer literacy programme and an English speaking course.

“Globalisation has resulted in a booming tourism industry. These tourists use autorickshaws as one of their main sources of transport, but the language barrier between tourists and rickshaw drivers is causing a communication gap as most of the rickshaw drivers do not understand English. They drive school children and should be able to interact with them properly to avoid miscommunication,” said Sanjay Chordia, chairperson of Suryadatta Group of Institutes.

Chordiya said the GPRS facility will be provided in the rickshaws shortly and the drivers need to know its usage.

“For this, the course will prove to be beneficial. With the help of this course rickshaw drivers will be able to communicate with their customers in a hassle-free manner.”

Chordiya added,“In thelast three years,we have conducted English language and computer literacy programme for 300 autorickshaw drivers. This programme has been beneficial as they have started communicating in English and have become a guide for people who do not understand local language. They have also begun using computers.”
