Southern Army Commander Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth on Monday reviewed the operational preparedness of the Konark Corps, a key formation of the Southern Command, during Exercise Akhand Prahar which is being part of the tri-services Exercise Trishul. Akhand Prahar aimed to validate the Indian Army’s capability to conduct integrated, multi-domain operations in synergy with the Indian Air Force.

Konark Corps also known as the Desert Corps is headquartered at Jodhpur and is one of the two Corps of the Pune headquartered Southern Command. The Army Commander witnessed combined arms manoeuvres showcasing seamless inter-service coordination, refinement of tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs), and the employment of next-generation battlefield technologies, including drones and counter-drone systems. The exercise also served as a real-time testbed for evaluating newly inducted platforms and indigenous innovations under field conditions, a press statement from the Indian Army read.

The Southern Command is currently conducting a series of tri-services exercises under the overarching framework of Exercise Trishul, to validate full-spectrum land–sea–air integration embodying the idea of JAI – Jointness, Atmanirbharta and Innovation in action. This has been the first tri-services military exercise of this scale along the Western border with Pakistan since Operation Sindoor in May.

“Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth also reviewed the battlefield innovations of the Battle Axe Division and Konark Corps, which included indigenously produced drones, counter-drone equipment, and advanced force protection measures. These initiatives reflect the growing emphasis on Atmanirbharta (Self-reliance) and the Indian Army’s commitment to fostering innovation at the formation level.” the release stated.

“The Army Commander commended the Konark Corps and  Battle Axe Division for its innovative use of technology, adaptability, and high standards of operational readiness. Exercise Akhand Prahar reaffirms the Indian Army’s focus on the JAI mantra of Jointness, Atmanirbharta, and Innovation, underscoring Southern Command’s role in driving transformation through synergy, technology infusion, and mission-ready preparedness across the multi-domain battlespace.” the release added.

Reflecting the Armed Forces’ expanding multi-domain capabilities and focus on Atmanirbharta in Defence, Exercise Trishul commenced with mission-focused validations to strengthen integrated readiness across multiple domains. Covering electronic warfare, cyber, drone and counter-drone operations, along with Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) as well as Air Defence control and reporting, the exercises reaffirm tri-service preparedness to dominate both virtual and physical domains through seamless land, sea, and air integration for coordinated joint operations.
