Nakul and Chaitali, who got married in 2018, were actively involved in various social activities in Pimpri Chinchwad. The couple ran a garments business, and Chaitali was reportedly planning to contest the upcoming civic elections.

According to the police, on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, the couple quarrelled while their children, a son and a daughter, slept. During the argument, Chaitali allegedly got angry and strangled Nakul with a piece of cloth. She then called the police control room and informed them about the incident, the police said.

Following a complaint by Nakul’s brother, Tushar Bhoir, 43, a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against Chaitali at the Chinchwad police station under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to the FIR, the couple had been quarrelling frequently over the past few months. Nakul had allegedly been urging his wife to refrain from consuming liquor and borrowing money from others. He also asked her to avoid associating with other men, the FIR alleged.
