Hope through music
City-based singer Gandhaar Sangoram has come up with his first album titled Aashayien. Grandson of the well-known music critic Late Dr Shrirang Sangoram,at 21,Gandhaar has won many accolades for his work in music. The album Aashayien will have songs sung by Gandhaar Sangoram and Saavani Ravindra. It includes songs such as Saath Woh Raat Degi,Aashayien and Suraj Ki Kirno Se revolving around the theme of hope and love. He’s the recipient of awards like the Sawai Sangeetkar Karandak in 2006,the Best Music Composition 2008 Firodiya Karandak,the Best Orchestra 2009 Firodiya Karandak,Best Singer 2009 Firodiya Karandak. Apart from being the cultural secretary of his college,Gandhaar also has more than 40 experimental plays,three commercial plays,a handful of advertising jingles,12 short films and so on to his credit. Gandhaar has composed the music and has also lent his voice to the four songs in the album. The songs have been mixed and mastered by Vijay Dayal at the Yash Raj Films Studios,Andheri,Mumbai.
Spice of life
In another spot of good news for all art lovers of the city,an art exhibition is where you can hope to refresh and recharge and take a break from your hectic work schedule. Organised by Mumbai-based artist Rakhi Baid at the Malaka Spice art gallery,the exhibition is based on the theme of Lord Krishna. It began on July 16 and will continue till July 30.
Baid,who feels that brushstrokes are her language and colours her soul,is displaying various creations on the theme of Lord Krishna in acrylic and oil on canvas. When I first thought of this exhibition,the theme of Lord Krishna came to my mind immediately. I had not thought of it before. Hhowever,Lord Krishna has been a source of inspiration for me since long,” says Baid. Moving ahead on an illustrious career built on a platform of hard work and creativity,she regularly attends the workshops of Fevicryl,the Camel Art Foundation and Pebco.
