Though,it has created opportunities for aspirants to take a plunge in the civic politics,sitting corporators are all set to get nominations for the members of their family. The panel is constituted with the merger of electoral wards – Haraknagar,Rajewadi and Gen Arunkumar Vaidya stadium – represented by Congress corporators Rashid Sheikh,Rekha Shinde and Sandeep Ladkat respectively. The area has seen domination of the Congress as the voters have also expressed their support to the party in assembly polls and Lok Sabha polls by voting in favour of Ramesh Bagwe and Suresh Kalmadi respectively. The maximum population in the area is from the poor class and most of them stay in slums.

The RPI joining hands with the saffron combine may affect the results for the panel in a major way. The panel has 7,500 votes of schedule caste of the total votes of 32,201. Thus,the RPI vote bank will decide the result of the polls. The Congress has a strong line up for party ticket that include persons from the family of sitting corporators and former corporators. The NCP,Shiv Sena,BJP,MNS and RPI would be eying on the rebels from the Congress.
