In between tournaments,Yuvraj Singh is busy creating his own brand
Congratulations on the historic win in New Zealand. Things are looking great for the team, arent they?
Things are looking very, very good. And Im very happy with the win, especially because we won so comprehensively. We deserved it.
Are you happy with your performance?
Im not really happy with my performance. It was alright. This time around,I am happier about the teams win.
Cool Maal is launching brand Yuvi, the first of its kind merchandise. Is it going to be in tune with your personality?
Yes,of course. It is my identity that will be out in the form of collectibles. The items like the mugs,T-shirts are spontaneous and flamboyant in a lot bright colours. The first line of products in this brand is based on the famous unforgettable feat of six sixes by me in the Twenty20 World Cup. After all, most people remember me for that, dont they?
Is it also an effort to reach out to the mass public through your merchandise?
Yes,it is. There are a lot of people in the country who look up to you and admire you for who you are. So this is my token of love and gratitude to them.
The merchandise priced between Rs 70-700 looks affordable too. Did some thought process go into this?
I wanted it to be available to all the young kids who play cricket and wish to own their cricketers merchandise. When I was growing up,I was in the habit of buying posters of cricketers for my room. And I could buy them because they were very affordable. I want to give back the same to young kids.
But then this line will not be a collectors item?
Thats alright. I will launch one in future for those who love collecting cricket memorabilia.
The proceeds from this are going to Yuvraj Singh Foundation. Tell us a little more about it.
It is an association which funds young kids who want to make a career in any sporting arena. It aims to support emerging sporting talent from all disciplines.
If you wished to own a cricketers merchandise, whose would it be?
I dont know which cricketer, but I would definitely like to own Manchester United merchandise. Whenever I go to London,I make it a point to pick up something from MU.
Next up is the Indian Premier League. Kings XI Punjab were Finalists last season, what are the expectations this time?
Our team played fantastic cricket in the last season. This time we are playing away from home but hoping to have a great run nevertheless. And hopefully, win.
Also,do you wish to replicate the six sixes feat?
In cricket anything can happen. So,why not?
