A festival of Costa Rican cinema starts with The Return,which is about a young Costa Rican who visits his hometown after living in New York City for a decade,on May 6. For award-winning American photographer Sebastian Cortes,India has been a muse ever since he moved here with his family in 2002 to pursue travel,lifestyle and fashion photography. He brings with him his photo essay on Puducherry by journeying into the metaphorical and anthropological folds of the city. Apart from the daily life of the citys inhabitants,he explores personal spaces of homes and peoples minds. Hero Worship
Bharatnatyam dancer Suchitra Mitra and her troupe will showcase Bandi Bir,based on a poem by Rabindranath Tagore. In the poem,Tagore describes the contribution of the youth of Punjab against the Mughals. Mitra has designed and choreographed the production,and plays the role of Banda Singh Bahadur,with her troupe learning gatka to essay the role of Sikh warriors. Bandi Bir will be staged on April 30 at Tagore Theatre.
Childs Play
An exhibition of artwork by children explores a wide range of emotions,from joy and warmth to a concern for the environment and depiction of a favourite toy. Painter and art educator Sonal Singh has curated this exhibition of drawings and sketches at Icon,Sector 8,Chandigarh till May 10.
