She is a sought-after interior designer in tinsel town and now she is lending her creativity to Pune for the first time. Twinkle Khanna was in the city on Sunday to talk about her collaboration with Panchshil Realty for its upcoming project at Boat Club Road. “The USP is the opulence and lavishness,” said Khanna.
Dressed in a sexy orange number, she spoke about how she is too busy designing others’ homes than her own. “When you have a bakery, you stop eating bread! The same applies to my home. I hardly get time to design the interiors. Akki is tired of telling me to! she said. “He’s happy about putting my cheques in the bank though!” she added with a laugh.
Even before she walked down the film aisle, she had been assisting a senior Mumbai architect from the age of 15. Now she has been in the business for the last 10 years after quitting her not-so-successful film career. She describes her designing style as contemporary Indian with intricacies of carvings and fabrics. We all live in concrete blocks. So I try to make it a little more liveable with my self-designed furniture, she says.
For the winter colour palette,Khanna, who recently designed Rani Mukerjis home, predicts a wild play of hues like burgundy, grey and blue.
Mention her range of customers and she is all smiles. “My clientele includes the middle class contrary to popular notion that designed interiors are only restricted to the upper sections of the society,” she says.
