Shetty murder suspect fired at,wife hurt

Police said Shinde and his wife were returning to their their house Alkapuri from Akurdi on a two-wheeler when two unidentified persons on a two-wheeler followed them. Near Gate number 9 of Alkapur in Dehu Road,one of them fired a revolver at Shinde.

Hearing the shot,Shinde asked his wife about the noise and she told him she was injured in the hand and that two persons on two-wheeler were following their motorcycle. Shinde rushed his wife to a hospital. A case of attempt to murder was registered at Dehu Road police station.

Doctors informed police Harshada had a bullet injury.

Police inspector Ram Jadhav of Dehu Road Police station said Shinde is a suspect in the murder of RTI activists Shetty at Talegaon Dabhade on January 13,2010.

During investigations,police had recorded statements of Shinde,in which he stated he had received Rs 1 lakh from advocate Vijay Dabhade to kill Shetty.

Shinde reportedly mentioned in his statement that he returned the supari on learning Shetty worked for the benefit of people. Dabhade was later arrested by the Pune rural police and is currently out on bail. The case is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Dehu Road police have formed three teams for investigation into the firing on Shinde.

“We are yet to confirm the reason behind the firing on Shinde. He is a suspect in the Shetty murder. We are probing various angles. Those who opened fire have not yet been identified,” said inspector Jadhav
