The Department of Higher and Technical Education of Maharashtra has set up a separate Shikshan Shulka Samiti for deciding the fee structures of unaided and permanently unaided education institutions in the state,keeping with the directive issued recently by the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court in certain case.
The seven-member committee will be headed by chief secretary of higher and technical education department. The chief secretaries of both school education department and finance department or their nominees will be the members of the committee. A representative of approved private teachers organisation and the director of State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) are among the seven members of the committee,read a government resolution issued on Friday.
The fee regulation panel will decide the fee structure of B.Ed and M.Ed colleges affiliated to state public universities.
There is already a Shikshan Shulka Samiti in place for deciding the fee structure of professional courses like engineering and medicine.
As per National Council for Teacher Education (Guidelines for regulation of tution fees and other fees chargeable by unaided teacher education institutions) amendment regulation 2010,there has to be separate fee fixation panel for unaided and permanently unaided education institutions and this formed the basis for courts order on separate fee fixation committee for these colleges.
