The Shiv Sena on Wednesday registered a complaint with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) seeking action against the alleged violation of election code of conduct by deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar for laying the foundation stone of Rs 68 crore flyover in Shivajinagar. The election code came into force on Wednesday afternoon. The civic chief assured that he would take up the issue with the Election Commission.
The function of laying foundation stone of the civic project was done in the evening while the election code came into existence came into effect in the afternoon. Therefore,the election department should take action against Pawar, said Sena leader Shyam Deshpande.
PMC commissioner Mahesh Pathak said he has received the complaint and processed it further. We will look into the matter and send report to the Election Commission, he said.
When asked about the pending budget proposal of civic education board in the general body,Pathak said the general body cannot take any policy decision during the election code.
I have taken legal opinion on the issue and as per the provisions,the budget approved by standing committee would be considered as the final budget of education board in the situation when the general body cant take decision, he said.
The municipal commissioner said the civic body will get its budget for four months as per the powers vested with the civic chief during civic polls.
The budget will be prepared for four months by the municipal commissioner. It will be further extened to one year by the new general body, Pathak said.
Meanwhile,the civic administration has started removing the banners and flexes by political aspirants and removed 5,221 banners on Wednesday. We have also got the custody of 20 cars that were allotted to office-bearers of PMC.
