Seminar on composite systems from November 18
A two-day seminar on composite systems will be organised at Research and Development Engineers (R&DE),Dighi,from November 18. The seminar will focus on various aspects of composite development a much needed area that needs research,especially in the era of cyber warfare where space is gaining importance. V K Sawaswat,DRDO chief and Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister,will be present on the occasion to give a lecture on the subject.
Visually challenged youngsters on J&K visit
A group of five visually challenged individuals from the city are on a six-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. The group left for Jammu on Tuesday and will return on November 3. The trip will include visits to historic places in Jammu and Srinagar and blind schools in the area. A visit to forward area has also been facilitated by Udhampur- based Northern Command of the Indian Army. I have been celebrating Diwali with the soldiers of the Indian Army. This time,I will be taking a group with myself. The whole idea is to make the jawans feel at home during Diwali and secondly,to introduce my fellow members to the way Army functions in forward areas, said Satish Navale,a member of the group.
Diploma scroll presentation at CME
Major General Jatinder Sikand,Dean and Deputy Commandant,College of Military Engineering (CME) said there was an increasing need for the service providers in the armed forces to function independently and professionally in a 24/7 environment to meet the ever-increasing demands of end-users. Delivering the valedictory address at the scroll presentation ceremony of six diploma courses at CME recently,the dean stressed upon the passing out soldiers to prepare themselves to shoulder more responsibilities following their role-change from being part of a larger combat army to that of a more specialised Military Engineer Services (MES). Highlighting the vast scope that exists in MES,he advised the soldiers to develop the habit of continuous learning and aim to become well-rounded engineers. A total of 220 soldiers,including two from the Cambodian Army,were awarded diplomas in various disciplines. Naik Shyam Bihari Gangwar of AGE(I) Kochi was awarded the silver medal for standing first in the order of merit while the bronze medal was awarded to Hav Ranjan Satpati of MEG & Centre Bangalore for standing second in the order of merit,a release issued by CME said.
