Taking a major step towards turning professional,Chetak Football Club will conduct selection trials for players at the Fergusson College Football Ground from July 1012. The trials will be open to players from all over the country.
The players selected from the trials will receive a stipend of up to Rs 5,000 on a monthly basis. Seven players will be selected on a contract basis.
Chetak Football Club came into existence in 1988 and since then it has made slow but steady progress to qualify for the top division of Pune football.
The club has three teams registered in the Pune District Football Association with the senior team playing in the super division,B team in the Second Division and the C team in the third division leagues.
The Senior Team has displayed good performances in the recent past including the Guru Teg Bahadur Tournament this year and the Runners Up in last years PDFA Leagues.
