City-based entrepreneur. Prakash Bang,has recently come out with his maiden book ‘Your Enterprise Isn’t Dead Yet’. In the book,Bang has put forth 101 doable ideas that are based on his practical experience spanning 42 years,which claim to be contradictory to the popular business practices. Bang had started his career at the age of 14 as a door-to-door salesman. He firmly believes that he has learnt more from the streets than from the books. Based upon his learning in advertising,direct marketing,online marketing and international trade,the author has presented his ideas in the 212-page long book. I will be a happy man if my book is able to generate successful entrepreneurs. It’s a great feeling to be of help to fellow entrepreneurs and business managers, he says.
All That Jazz
The seventh edition of the two-day Jazz fest will begin from today at the Shisha Cafe in Koregaon Park. Having been a hotbed for jazz related events the one at Shisha will feature Tarun Balani Quintet and Global Utlity take to the stage. Friday on the other hand will see Pommelhorse and Helen & the Mumbai Mariachis belt out classic jazz numbers. The gigs begins at 7 pm onwards. Helen Jones,vocalist of the band Helena and the Mumbai Mariachis says that it has been a long list of influences that have been instrumental in helping them find their style. “Influences range from Cesaria Evora,Nina Simone,Miriam Makeba,to Norah Jones,Khaled and the Gipsy Kings. But that is not it. We call ourselves a gypsy rock band but our work has been so heavily influenced by Gypsy jazz that I feel we have created a new style of our own,” she adds. The band comprises of Brince from Assam on keyboards,Ambar on drums and Udoy on bass guitar. About the performance,she says that there will be a lot of Latin influences in the pieces that they will play. “We will also play Gipsy Kings and pieces from other musicians who have inspired us but it will largely comprise original stuff,” says Jones.
