School staffer booked after duping 53 parents of Rs 13.65 lakh

A school official lodged an FIR in this case at the Lonikand police station. Police have booked the accused, Vinaykumar Bhandarkar, resident of Manjari Budruk, under sections 420, 408 of the Indian Penal Code.

Police have booked a man, working as an accountant at an international school in Wagholi, for duping as many as 53 parents of Rs 13.65 lakh by assuring to provide admission to their children under the “Right to Education (RTE) quota”.

A school official lodged an FIR in this case at the Lonikand police station. Police have booked the accused, Vinaykumar Bhandarkar, resident of Manjari Budruk, under sections 420, 408 of the Indian Penal Code.

Police said as per the government rules, students from weaker sections are given free education under the RTE.

Police said that to get their child’s admissions done under the RTE quota at the International School, Bhandakar is alleged to have collected Rs 13,65,500, from 53 parents, during April and November 2023. However, when their children were not given admission under the RTE quota, the parents approached the school management with their complaint.

The school management then came to know about the alleged fraud and lodged a police complaint against him.
