Saffron combine hunt for candidate in Cong-NCP bastion

The areas in this newly-constituted panel has seen a lot of development in the recent past. The real estate too has thrived. The area has transformed from a village to a upcoming suburb that has connectivity to the airport. The educational institute and IT park in the area has changed the face of the area. It has more of a cosmopolitan look with citizens of all communities residing in the area.

The panel,consists of area covered under electoral ward Phulenagar,Nanasaheb Parulekar school,Kalas-Vishrantwadi – represented by Sunil Gogale of NCP,Nanda Kamble of Congress and Alka Khade of NCP respectively.

The NCP and the Congress have an upper hand in the area amidst a marginal presence of saffron combine. The panel would witness a straight fight between the NCP and the Congress. The saffron combine and MNS are on hunt for strong candidates for the party to take on the two parties.

Since there is reservation of Schedule Caste,sitting corporator Sunil Gogale of NCP will be again trying his luck to get elected to the civic body. However,he might face a stiff challenge from Jalindar Kamble,husband of sitting corporator Nanda Kamble of the Congress. Both Congress and NCP have many probables in the panel and the two political parties will a have tough task ahead to ensure there is no rebellion in the party.

The women’s seat is for open category candidates. Mangesh Gole has sought party ticket for his mother to contest the poll. Similarly,former mayor Bharat Sawant is also planning to rope in someone from his family to contest the civic poll in women category. Several former corporators are also working overtime.
