Rs 110-crore project to ease traffic flow in Vishrantwadi & Ghorpadi
NCP legislator Sunil Tingre and former BJP legislator Jagdish Mulick of Vadgaonsheri Assembly constituency had taken up the issue with PMC and the state government.

Concerned over increasing chaos of vehicles on roads, Pune Municipal Corporation’s effort to alleviate issues by building proper infrastructure has gained momentum. The civic body has begun the process for development of a flyover and grade separator at Ambedkar junction on Alandi road, and also a railway over-bridge at Ghorpadi on Pune Miraj Railway.
NCP legislator Sunil Tingre and former BJP legislator Jagdish Mulick of Vadgaonsheri Assembly constituency had taken up the issue with PMC and the state government. Thereupon, Guardian minister of Pune district had directed PMC to work on providing better road infrastructure.
The flyover in Mukundrao Ambedkar Junction in Vishrantwadi on Alandi road comprise a two-lane unidirectional flyover with an overall width of 8.0 metre, which will also have crash barriers on either side of the 300-metre flyover—with 150 metres on the airport side, 75 metres on Alandi side, and a 66-metre long bridge.
The two-lane unidirectional grade separator— from Alandi side to Airport side, and from Alandi side to Pune side—will be 9 metres wide. There will be a ramp of 140 metre on the Pune side, of 185 metre on the Alandi side and 150 metre on the Airport side.
”It will provide the smooth movement of the traffic moving from entry and exit of vehicles plying on the main flyover,” said civic officer.
Tingre said that demand for the flyover at Ambedkar junction in Vishrantwadi was a long pending one due to heavy traffic in peak hours leading to traffic chaos. “The existing three side foot over bridge will be removed from the junction and the steel structure will be used on other city roads,” he said.
Also, PMC has undertaken construction of a railway over-bridge in Ghorpadi, 14 metres wide and around 306 metres in length, with a 50-metre bridge on rail tracks, 136-metre ramp towards Pune station and 120-metre ramp towards Ghorpadi side, with a crash barrier on both sides. Residents were miserable everyday with long drawn traffic jams after closure of two adjacent railway gates.
The infrastructure project is estimated to cost Rs 110 crore, with the work likely to be complete in two years from the day of work order.
