After receiving a drubbing in the Lok Sabha polls, the Republican Party of India, led by former MP Ramdas Athawale,on Sunday said his party is exploring the possibility of a new alliance with the third front and stay away from both saffron alliance and the Congress-NCP alliance for the Assembly polls.

“The party workers are angry over the treatment meted out to them during the Lok Sabha polls and want to stay away from the Congress and the NCP in the Assembly polls,” Athawale told reporters. He said though the party workers are open to alliance with saffron parties,it’s ruled out.

Athawale said he gave a courtesy visit to Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, who is admitted to a hospital in Mumbai.

The party workers are urging to go all alone or look for alternative options for alliance,he said. We are exploring the possibility of joining the third front comprising Peasant and Workers Party,Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana led by Raju Shetty and Jansurajya Party led by Vinay Kore,he said.

Athawale is going to hold meetings throughout the state.
