A 300-metre patch on the Baner- Pashan Link Road, that connects Pashan-Balewadi Road on one side and the Baner-Westernly bypass on the other, has been a sore thumb for three years now. The reason: the patch has not been developed as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is yet to acquire that land.
Some officials said the piece of land belongs to one Vitthal Nimhan who is untraceable. A board by the side of the road says the land is private.
The patch of road belongs to a private owner and the land has yet not been acquired by the PMC. The matter is in court. We cannot comment as to when the dispute will be resolved, said Jayant Bhosekar, ward officer,PMC. Locals have held numerous meetings to voice concern. Over the past two-three years,we have done everything from meeting local corporators to ward officers and even meeting them collectively. Nothing has happened. We are tired and have accepted that patch as a permanent problem, said Ramesh Deshpande.
According to the PMC Roads Department, the construction of the patch will not take more than two days. The cost of constructing that should not be more than Rs 3 lakh. Once acquired,we can construct the patch within 48 hours. But the problem is with acquisition. An officer following up the case has recently retired. We cannot say when the acquisition process will be complete, said Sushil Tayade, junior engineer,Roads,PMC who has been dealing with the road for the three-and-a-half years now.
