90 students from over 33 schools participated in this inter-nursery recitation contest
Tiny tots narrated Humpty Dumpty’s fall and Jack and Jill’s climb up the hill. The audience at the Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan sat with joyous smiles. At an inter-nursery recitation contest organised by Mind Ventures International and the Kidz Talent Club, children below the age of five lit up the stage with their recitation of nursery rhymes. Ninety finalists from over 33 schools participated in the contest which was held on Saturday. They were shortlisted from among 450 students.
The kids reminded me of my childhood days. It was difficult to really judge them. The winners were selected based on their diction, confidence, gestures, fluency and voice modulation, said Maniar, who feels that 90 per cent of the kids were worth winning the title. Three winners were chosen from three categories nursery, junior KG,and senior K G. Durratusharaf Rampurwala from MSB Education Society won in the Nursery category; Darsh Karnavat from Vibgyor Kids,Mohammadwadi, bagged the award from lower kindergarten section while Archana Arora from Primrose School,Koregaon Park, won in the Upper Kindergarten round. Our students have been participating in such elocution competitions for several years now. The award encourages them to perform better, said Tasneem Dabhiya,a teacher at Vibgyor. The students are always eager to participate and showcase their talent on stage. So,it would be a crime to stop them from doing so! Plus, this marks their triumph over stage fear and distracts them from being naughty, said Frank Freese.
