Investigations in the case of disproportionate assets of retired inspector Bhausaheb Andalkar (56) revealed that he had bought the defunct Ramgiri sugar factory in Tuljapur district. The remand application report submitted before anti-corruption special judge A P Kurhekar states that Andalkar bought the factory in the name of his mother,wife and son and paid Rs 20 lakh as share capital.
He had performed bhoomipujan of the factory and the nearby power-generation project on April 25,2011,at Sawargaon in Tuljapur district and appointed his son Deepak as the chief promoter of the factory.
Jadhav told the court that the police wanted to find out the source of the money spent in buying this property. Andalkar was not co-operating with the police. An additional seven-day custody is needed to interrogate him, he argued.
Pratap Pardeshi,representing Andalkar,said Andalkar was ready to visit the police as and when required for investigation. When the court asked Andalkar if he wanted to add anything,he said,I do not have any disproportionate assets and all my accounts and paper work has been handed over to the police. The court extended his police custody till Friday.
Andalkar,who served as in-charge of Pune rural polices local crime branch was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). An inquiry conducted by Sharad Thongepatil,superintendent of police (ACB),Pune had revealed that from 1977 to 2010,Andalkar had allegedly collected property worth Rs 1,57,96,247 which is found in excess of his known source of income.
