Worried about a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus driver speaking over a mobile phone while driving? Irritated with absent or improper route boards on the buses? Now, you can contribute towards bringing discipline in erring PMPML drivers and conductors by reporting them to the transport body and, guess what, you will also earn a reward for your effort.

The PMPML has launched a reward scheme under which it will give away cash prizes worth Rs 100 to passengers who complain with proofs like pictures and videos of bus drivers or conductors breaking rules. The violations that they can complain about are a driver talking over or browsing a mobile phone while driving, not putting up or putting up wrong route boards and jumping zebra crossings. The money given in reward will be deducted from the erring driver or conductor’s salary.

A similar scheme was in place earlier too under which the PMPML used to reward passengers who shared pictures of drivers speaking over phone. The scheme was first launched in 2010 and continued till 2020 when the public transport service was disturbed for several months.

The PMPML officials said that the scheme has been brought in with an intention to bring in commuters’ participation and for redressal of public grievances.

Passengers can send their complaints (along with photographic evidence) to complaints@pmpml.org or on the WhatsApp number 9881495589. Passengers have to provide date, time and bus details while sending the complaints. Passengers can also submit their complaints at their nearest bus depots.
