‘Report on responses to BDP likely to be submitted by month-end’

On the last day of the hearing on Monday,the department heard 100 cases that were mostly put up by NGOs and green organisations.

Avinash Patil,Joint Director,Town Planning,said the cases involved issues pertaining to protection of hills,permissions from gram panchayat,area premium issues,100 per cent TDR instead 8 per cent as allotted,and rates as per the ready recknor.

“I will now have to study all these objections in detail and comment on each one of them before compiling and sending my report,’’ said Patil.

He said he plans to submit the report by month-end. “The government will take a final call on the report,’’ he added.

The notice for suggestions and objections was issued in February this year. The hearings were for individuals and institutions from Wadgaon,Warje,Wadgaon Dhairi,Lohegaon,Mohammedwadi,Kondwa,Ambegaon,Dhankawadi and Katraj

areas.

The Pune Municipal Corporation had merged 23 villages in its jurisdiction in 1997 and decided to prepare a Development Plan (DP) in the same year.

The DP was declared in 2002 and was forwarded to the state government for approval after incorporating suggestions from villagers. Of the total 978 hectares of land reserved for BDP,853 hectares was privately owned land. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had declared BDP with a provision of 8 per cent TDR as compensation along with 74 hectares for excluded properties.

Citizen’s group had opposed the move saying this was a poor deal for land owners.

The members of the committee set up for the BDP were experts K V Jain and Rakesh Kumar,forest department official Nandkishor,UDD Deputy Director Srirang Landge and PMC chief Mahesh Pathak.
