Rane wants Rehabilitation Act amended

In a bid to help project-affected people in the state,Revenue Minister Narayan Rane has urged the department officials to take efforts to amend the Maharashtra Rehabilitation Act.

In a bid to help project-affected people in the state,Revenue Minister Narayan Rane has urged the department officials to take efforts to amend the Maharashtra Rehabilitation Act. He was addressing a day-long workshop for revenue officials in the city on Saturday.

“Help the project-affected and give them a decent rehabilitation. It is necessary to make amendments to the Act,” he said.

Rane said rehabilitation of the project-affected has been delayed by the officials. “No enough work has been done on the same so far and there should be area-wise study,” said the minister.

As the state acquires land for developmental projects,the issue of rehabilitation should be executed well to avoid any inconveniece caused to the people,he said.

Rane also said issues pending for 40-50 years should be cleared and no delay should be made by the revenue department officials. Pune district collector Chandrakant Dalvi has already pledged to clear pendencies in three months.

The meet was attended by officials of revenue and forest departments.

Additional chief secretary M Rameshkumar delivered a presentation on rehabilitation in the state.

Divisional commissioner of Pune Dilip Band,Konkan divisional commissioner SS Sandhu and Aurangabad revenue commissioner Bhaskar Munde also attended the workshop.
