A group of ceramic artists have come together at Raja Ravi Varma Gallery in Pune to explore the multifaceted dimensions of ‘touch’ in a contemporary setup – that can highlight moments of introspection and self-discovery, of warmth and intimacy and also convey distress and intrusion.
Titled ‘Touch: Bridging the Tactile and Conceptual’, the exhibition in collaboration with Art Pune Foundation, encourages a bold experimentation with textures, forms and techniques, showcasing both physical interaction and intellectual reflection.
A clay installation at the exhibition
One of the artists, Madhavi Kolte, explains that to touch is “also to think of a feeling even before touching and my work at the exhibition exactly speaks of that feeling”.
Kolte, who reuses materials from her previous works in all her subsequent artworks, says the question of whether to accept the experience as reality is what intrigued her to create.
“The football presented here today is made from clay shavings from a previous installation. As an artist conscious about sustainability, l am transiting towards repurposing material already existing around me and hence I have repurposed the clay shavings,” she adds.

As you move through the exhibition, you are invited to contemplate the rich interplay between physical sensation and abstract meaning.
Featuring works of 20 Pune-based ceramics artists such as Asha Baste, Dhanashree Kelkar, Gauri Gandhi, Hritodaya Maria Dsouza, Jahnavi Ghospurikar, Karuna Kathpalia, Khitija Mitter, Madhavi Kolte, Madhu Sungh, Manoj Sharma, Naresh Kesharwani, Parth Palsay Payal Garai, Priyanka Joshi, Rashmi Bhadkamkar, Rashmi Vaidya, Ruby Jhunjhunwala, Ruddhi Vichare, Sakshi Mathuria and Veena Chandran the exhibition is a must see for art enthusiasts till October 6, from 11 am to 7 pm.
