The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the office and home of Suresh Kalmadis close aide Sangeeta Welinkar,additional director general (Image and Look) in Delhi on Tuesday. But her Pune residence in upmarket Aundh was calm and quiet. When this reporter visited her house on Tuesday evening,her son Uddhav Waman Welinkar was alone. I have no idea about the raids,he said,refusing to comment further. Neighbours too were unaware of the raids being carried out at Welinkars Delhi residence.
Welinkar was in the core organising committee (OC) of the Commonwealth Games,drawing a salary of Rs 1.31 lakh per month. She also worked with Kalmadi during the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune as the coordinator of the games. Welinkar is the daughter of former badminton champ Nandu Natekar and sister of Davis Cupper Gaurav Natekar. Her son Uddhav Welinkar quit the organising committee (OC) of the Commonweath Games in August as Administrative Assistant (Volunteer programme). When contacted,both Sangeeta and her husband Waman Welinkar refused to comment on the issue.
Vidya Kulkarni,superintedent of CBIs Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB),Pune said,The Pune CBI-ACB team has not conducted any raids in the city related to CWG case. The Delhi team is handling the case. They have not sought any help from us so far.
