To promote cultural ties with Japan,the western India chapter of Mombusho Association of India (MOSAI) and Consulate of Japan jointly organised a musical programme in Pune on Friday.
In the event,for the first time an Indian performed a full-fledged programme of Japanese music, said Umesh Joshi,vice-president of the western chapter of MOSAI. The western chapter of MOSAI has been engaged in developing cultural ties between Pune and Japan for four years. This time,we thought it would be better if people of Pune get a taste of Japanese culture., he said. According to Joshi,around 1,000 people gathered for the event.
Priyal Sathe,an Indian classical vocalist who has also excelled in Japanese language,conceived and performed the musical programme. It was a great experience to do this programme. Japanese music has some essence of Indian classical music, said Sathe who has been learning classical music for last 17 years.
Japanese consul Sinichi Iida ,the chief guest for the function,also sang.
