The overall earnings of the Pune division of the Central Railways have gone up by 18.45 per cent during the last fiscal year. The division earned Rs 722.52 crore from passenger fares and freight during 2011-12 as against Rs 609.98 crore in 2010-11. The earnings from tickets have increased by 19.25 per cent compared to 2010-11. The earnings included ticket fares,both long distance and suburban,platform tickets and penalties for travelling either without tickets or travelling with invalid tickets. The earnings from passenger fares this year was Rs 493.41 crore as against its earnings of Rs 413.76 crore during financial year 2010-11. The divisions earnings from freight during 2011-12 went up to Rs 229.11 crore from Rs 196.22 crore in the previous fiscal.
