Power utility to continue with loadshedding

The maintenance work involves locating faults in damaged overhead lines. Often there are suspected faulty insulators as water may have seeped in the cables. We need to switch off the supply to check the faults,said Nagtilak. The main work is,however,to ensure the supply from the substation tower lines to the busbars. Busbars carry large currents or distribute current to multiple devices within switchgear or equipment. The work is under way along Chinchwad and Ganeshkhind lines,he said.

New transformers are being added and the Theur-Phursungi 132 KV line is being made into a double circuit line which will take a month,he said. Areas that depend on these lines include Hadapsar,Mundhwa,Kondhwa. “With the double-circuit line,we hope to resolve the problem,” said Nagtilak. The power utility has proposed to increase the number of section officers and sub divisions. There are nine divisions in Pune with two main circles at Ganeshkhind and Rasta Peth. Under these,there are four and five divisions and 30 other sub divisions. “Each sub division has at least 50,000 consumers and to balance workload we are planning to introduce more sub divisions,added Nagtilak.
