Easy interaction between audience and actors is now possible as the first official online Marathi fan club gets launched
The global appeal of the Marathi cinema is set to leave impressions on the World Wide Web. Taking a note of the increasing fan following of Marathi actors, the first ever official online fan club of Marathi stars was launched in the city by faces of the film industry such as- Mrunal Kulkarni,Umesh Kulkarni,Vijay Kenkre,Siddharth Chandekar and others. Titled http://www.marathimanoranjan.com,the website will facilitate easy interaction between Marathi film stars and their fans through blogs, postings, discussions, forums and film reviews.
“Marathi cinema is making a mark on the global scenario and our film stars are some of the most popular faces on the celluloid. The motive behind launching the website is to generate an interaction which can convey true feelings of the audiences to the actors thereby increasing the possibility of initiating quality projects in the years to come,” said Vinod Satav, managing director,M M Communications Private Limited who along with his colleagues Prasad Shirgaonkar and Ashwini Torankar has conceptualised the project.
Claiming to be the first official fanclub of Marathi stars,Shirgaonkar said,”The reason this is official is because every actor is involved in the process of making of the website right since its inception. Blogs by Bollywood stars are quite popular, but this is the first time Marathi stars will be writing blogs and that too on one common platform.”
Welcoming the initiative,Umesh Kulkarni, director, said,”In the past few years,we are bombarded with programmes and films and filtering the right kind of programmes is our responsibility. Besides, the Marathi film industry is a closely-knit fraternity but unfortunately, because of the tight schedules,we hardly get to interact with each other. This website will help us appreciate and comment on each others’ work.”
Expressing a theatre centric view, veteran theatre personality Vijay Kenkre said,”With this,I will be able to express my true feelings about various aspects of art. For instance,if there is something that upsets me,I can openly convey it.”
Raising an important issue about the fake accounts by the names of various stars that exist on different networking sites,Sonali Kulkarni said,”Because this is official,my audience will be aware that they are interacting with the right person and not a fake account holder.”
Piracy is another problem that has been bothering the industry professionals and Salil Kulkarni, music composer, said,”Portals such as this can be utilised to curb piracy in an effective manner.”
Mrunal Kulkarni on the other hand added,”It is important to popularise such mediums. More and more people should write about cinema on such portals.”
