PMPML bus mows down blind man

A Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited bus knocked down a blind man in Katraj on the Pune-Satara Road,at around 11 am on Tuesday.

A Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus knocked down a blind man in Katraj on the Pune-Satara Road,at around 11 am on Tuesday.

Bahubali Surendra Harimanvar (37) was rushed to the Bharati hospital for treatment,where he was declared dead after an hour. Police have booked the PMPML bus driver Vaijanath Swami (35) in the case.

According to the police,Swami parked the bus near Savant Vihar bus stop and went for tea with the bus conductor. The duo then returned and Swami started the bus. He lost control and could not apply the brakes as the bus moved forward. The bus went on to hit Bahubali,who was crossing the road.

Police sub inspector P K Patil,who is investigating the case,said that Bahubali was a resident of Ambegaon Budruk.
