Launching a drive against those littering in public places,the civic administration on Monday took action against 69 pan stalls,15 hand carts and 39 hawkers for creating unhygienic condition in the public places. Earlier,Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Zagade had directed the civic administration to initiate action against citizens found littering,including spitting,in public places.
Those spitting and throwing garbage in public places should be punished immediately,he said while reviewing the cleanliness work of the civic body.
He said the pan shops and handcarts litter in the public places and action taken against them by canceling the licenses.
The civic administration also demolish the illegal structures and huts opposite Shivajinagar court and Pune-Solapur road. Action was initiated action against the illegal structures that had come up in the area reserved for Bio-diversity Park (BDP) on Sinhagad Road.
The civic administration had been under pressure from environment activists for failing to keep a check on illegal structures coming up in the BDP area.
