PM should be brought under Lokpal: Joshi

Even as the Central Government decided to set up a joint committee for an effective Lokpal bill

Even as the Central Government decided to set up a joint committee for an effective Lokpal bill, chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Saturday said the Prime Minister should be brought within the ambit of the bill. He took a dig at the UPA government for its failure to check corruption.

Addressing a press conference in the city today,Joshi said,“The central government is insensitive to the public opinion on corruption. The government should have acted swiftly after the public outcry against the weak Lokpal Bill.” He said there has to be zero tolerance to corruption and it should be fought at all levels.” The former HRD Minister said that not only should the Lokpal Bill be made strong, even the amendments should be made in the electoral laws so that corrupt people don’t get to join politics. He said because of faulty policies of the Central government and no check on corruption,it is becoming difficult for the common man to live a comfortable life.

“The level of inflation in the country has touched heights. The root cause of this is not only the wrong policies of the government, but also corruption.”
