Pirated CDs worth Rs 78 lakh seized

The Pune rural police have seized pirated CDs/ VCds/ DVDs worth Rs 78 lakh during a raid at Kasturi Music house in Manikbaug,Sinhagad Road on Sunday.

The Pune rural police have seized pirated CDs/ VCds/ DVDs worth Rs 78 lakh during a raid at Kasturi Music house in Manikbaug,Sinhagad Road on Sunday. They have seized about 1000 pirated CDs of the movie ‘Slumdog Millionare’. Four persons identified as Bala Khedcekar (22),Sandip Gehlotvay (23),Balu Ingawale (26) and Mallikarjun Mane – Patil,all residents of Wadgaon Budruk region were arrested on the spot.

Acting on a tip-off from India’s Copyright Investigation A A Khan Associates,a rural police team led by sub inspector Vilas Patil raided the music house around 4.30 pm. Police have seized 14293 pirated CDs including 43 obscene videos. Besides,three branded VCD players,four DVD writers and two card readers were also seized from the spot. Superintendent of Police Ravindra Kadam said that suspects were making pirated CDs at the music house.

The suspects have been booked under sections 51,52(a),63,68 (a) of the Copy Right 1957 and section 292 of Indian Penal Code. The suspects were remanded to police custody till February 25.
