PCMC panels may change

State Election Commissioner Neela Satyanarayan created a stir in Pimpri-Chinchwad after she hinted at boundaries of the two-member civic panels (earlier wards) being redrawn and even reservations changed if objections raised over them are found true. On Friday, she asked Municipal Commissioner Asheesh Sharma to go on a fact-finding mission and submit the report to the Election Commission. “After we receive the report,we will take necessary action,” she said. The EC also clarified that the February civic elections would be held as per the 2001 census as figures of caste census were not available. The panel boundaries and reservations in Pimpri-Chinchwad were declared in August. After that,PCMC received 249 objections,Shiv Sena and the BJP being in the fore front of filing objections. Sena leader Sarang Kamthekar had alleged that NCP had a hand in redrawing boundaries to suit its political future.
